Local at Heart, an organization based in New Paltz with a mission to help support local food pantries through fundraising efforts, will be hosting the Empty Bowls event this Sunday, September 23 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Historic Huguenot Street. For $20, you can enjoy a meal that includes a variety of soups from over 20 local restaurants, baked bread, beverages and dessert. All are donated by area businesses to help fight hunger in New Paltz and surrounding communities.
Choose a one-of-a-kind keepsake bowl to take home as a reminder of the local effort to eliminate hunger. Bowls were painted by local Girl Scout troops including Misty Mountains, #60142, residents and employees at Woodland Pond, employees of Ulster Savings Bank, members of the New Paltz Reformed Church and other supporters of Local at Heart.
This year, there are over 200 handmade bowls donated by the Bruderhof Community.
Lots of parking, live music, entertainment for the kids — including face painting and an illusionist — as well as a silent auction and fisherman’s raffle will be part of the fun. All are welcome.
