As the preeminently musical city of New Orleans celebrates its tricentennial, the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts gets in on the action with Trombone Shorty’s Voodoo Threauxdown on Saturday, August 11. Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews exemplifies the city’s polyglot musical spirit. He is one of the most recent and most popular ambassadors of New Orleans’ complex musical heritage of jazz, blues, Cajun, funk and more. He is hardly alone on this bill, however. Also performing will be the popular funk/jam band Galactic, the great Preservation Hall Jazz Band and at least two people with the last name Neville, for legitimacy.
The show begins at 7 p.m. Ticket prices for this Pavilion-only (no Lawn) show range from $49.95 to $90.95. For tickets and additional information, visit www.bethelwoodscenter.org. The Bethel Woods Center for the Arts is located at 200 Hurd Road in Bethel.
