In its debut at the Woodstock Playhouse, the high-end jazz advocate and incubator the Catskill Jazz Factory presents Ladies of the Blues, featuring the Dominick Farinacci Quintet with special guest vocalist Shenel Johns. A retrospective spanning the early blues of Bessie Smith and Billie Holiday up to the iconic works of Dinah Washington and Nina Simone, Ladies of the Blues takes place on Saturday, May 26 at 7:30 p.m.
Described by The New York Times as “A trumpeter of abundant poise,” the Cleveland native Farinacci has been a featured guest on ABC’s Good Morning America and was credited as Global Ambassador to Jazz at Lincoln Center by Wynton Marsalis. Jones has performed and recorded with Dominic Farinacci, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Ulysses Owens, Jr., Ronnie Burrage, Eddie Palmieri and many others.
