Two of the Democratic candidates for the party’s nomination to take on incumbent Republican John Faso for the 19th New York Congressional District’s seat have set upcoming forums in Kingston about healthcare.

David Clegg’s “Medicare for All Town Hall” will be held Tuesday, May 1 from 6-7:45 p.m. at the Kingston Library, 55 Franklin St. I’m doing this ‘Medicare for All Town Hall’ series because I want to hear people’s struggles with our healthcare system; I want them to know there are people running for office who hear their problems and have a solution, and I want to have a discussion about why we need to pass Medicare for all,” Clegg stated in a press release, adding that he “will fight to my last breath to see it passed.” Similar forums are planned by Clegg in Sullivan, Otsego, Columbia and Dutchess counties.

The next day, Wednesday, May 2, Brian Flynn will hold an “interactive Medicare for All-themed” town hall at The Church House, 355 Hasbrouck Ave., from 7-8:30 p.m. “Healthcare isn’t a privilege for those who can afford it, it is a right,” stated Flynn in a press release. “A ‘Medicare for all’ system would ensure that every American has access to affordable, quality healthcare and that their economic status does not keep them from seeing the doctor or specialist they need.” Flynn will moderate a panel of several notable local healthcare practitioners and experts, including Dr. Maggie Carpenter, Dr. Carl Atkins, Dr. Fabio Danisi, Dr. Anthony Albano, David McNary and Peter Morley. There will also be a Q&A session with panelists answering questions from both the audience, as well as those watching on Periscope and Facebook Live.
