It may not look like much now, but the unassuming yellow building along the driveway into the village of Saugerties parking lot off Partition Street is the new home of the Saugerties Chamber of Commerce. Mark Smith, co-chair of the chamber, said that local building-owner Michael Persico is letting the chamber use the building rent-free for two years as its first business-district visitors’ center.
“We’re really very excited by this,” Smith said. Brochures from local businesses and attractions will be put in the center, as well as menus from local restaurants.
“We’ll be open Friday, Saturday, and Sundays beginning at noon,” Smith said.
A grand opening ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned for this Friday, June 29 at 5 p.m.
The chamber is also looking for a pair of benches for the front of the center. Anyone who would like to make a donation is asked to contact the chamber.
