The New Paltz Amphitheater Project has promoted numerous events in the last two years to raise the money required to finish construction on the outdoor performance and community space underway at the Lenape School in New Paltz. Spearheaded by the New Paltz PTA and funded entirely through these benefits and other fundraising means (no taxpayer dollars), “Amp It Up” takes over the Falcon in Marlboro on Friday, May 26 with a very New Paltz-centric musical lineup. Old 97’s frontman, solo recording artist and longtime area resident Rhett Miller will be joined by New Paltz roots/rock institution the Trapps (fronted by the songwriter and Fighting Spirit Karate Studio founder Sean Schenker) and the eccentric progressive pop band the Sweet Clementines, fronted by guitarist and Almanac Weekly music critic John Burdick. The show begins at 7 p.m. Admission is by donation, and all donations go directly to the amphitheater project. The Falcon is located at 1348 Route 9W in Marlboro.
