“Eppard” is a bit of a holy name in this region, thanks, in recent years, to the big load of nationally registering music made by the dazzling guitarist and songwriter Joey Eppard and his band 3, and by drummer/composer Josh Eppard in various projects including Coheed & Cambria and Weerd Science. But the scion, of course, is father Jimmy Eppard: an ace guitarist and guitar expert and a masterful musician’s musician whose name has been spoken with respect around here for many decades.
The elder Eppard has finally assembled a band to play his own music, and it is a doozy of heavy hitters, including the virtuoso bassist Charlie Kniceley, keyboardist Jimmy Atlee and drummer Tom Buffee. They’ve claimed the name Hobo Jungle, and they’ll be performing in the warm and acoustically sweet confines of the Rosendale Café on Saturday, January 28 at 8 p.m. Admission costs $10.
The Rosendale Café is located at 434 Main Street in Rosendale. For more information, visit www.rosendalecafe.com.
