The Saugerties Teachers Association (STA) and Saugerties Educational Support Association (SESA) held a “Stuff the Bus” tailgate gathering at the Junior/Senior High School on Friday, Nov. 4. Items for the Backpack Program were collected and distributed to make sure children in the elementary schools who qualify for the free and reduced price meal program have enough to eat over the weekend. The STA and SESA members were happy to assist the Backpack Program organizers, Key Club.
The Saugerties Teachers Association set up a snowflake craft area on Dec. 4 for local children to make an ornament during the Christmas in the Village celebration. During the month of November, $600 from the dress-down collection was donated to the Council of Churches to assist them in purchasing items for the toy give-away. December’s dress-down collection of $800 was donated to a local family dealing with a child’s difficult health issues. A districtwide Jingle for Joy collection was held Friday, Dec. 10, which resulted in two checks of $775 each that will go to two local families in Saugerties dealing with difficult health issues.
