The Reformed Church of Saugerties at 173 Main St. is holding a series of conversations on three consecutive Thursday evenings, Dec. 8, 15 and 22 at 7 p.m.
The talks are intended for “Nones and Dones,” those without a religious affiliation or those who are simply “done;” who used to have an affiliation but no longer do because of doubts or negative experiences.
Representatives of the church say that Advent provides opportunities to ask the “big questions” that can get lost in daily living, especially in the hectic pace of the holidays: expectation, waiting, finding hope in darkness, discovering deeper sources of joy and yearning for true peace. Participants in the conversations will read from secular and sacred writings to consider what others have said on these topics throughout the ages. There will be no evangelism, no pressure; just honest, from-the-heart conversations.
