Rebecca Weissbard, 22, of Manorville, NY, died yesterday, Aug. 31, after being thrown from a horse during a competition at HITS in Saugerties.
Police said Weissbard was competing in a “jump off” competition yesterday afternoon and was attempting the second of ten hurdles when her horse struck a cross pole. As they fell, the horse landed on the rider, causing the fatal injuries.
The 911 call came in at 1:17 p.m. Upon arrival, EMTs from HITS were actively involved in providing CPR to the victim. Paramedics from DIAZ Ambulance responded to the scene and were unable to revive Weissbard.
