An officer with the Kingston Police Department is facing a charge of driving while intoxicated, state police say, after he flipped his car on Lucas Avenue in the Town of Ulster on Sunday.
According to state troopers, 36-year-old Nicholas P. Kozack of Stone Ridge was going south on Lucas when he failed to make a left turn and drove off the shoulder of the road, hitting a large metal signpost. The vehicle he was driving flipped over and landed on its roof.
Kozack was taken to and treated at HealthAlliance Hospitals’ Broadway Campus. Troopers say he was issued an appearance ticket for Ulster Town Court and added further charges are pending as, troopers said, he wasn’t authorized to drive the vehicle he was driving at the time of the crash.
