Sophomore Lula Rappaport presented the app she designed to the Board of Education when it met on Dec. 8. Rappaport’s app, which won the overall top prize at the science fair in November and netted her a $1,000 scholarship, is meant for high school students. It can be installed on any smart phone and includes the school menus, sports and activity calendars, and bell schedule. It also links to cancellations.com where student can find out if the school is closed due to inclement weather.
Trustee Krista Barringer said she downloaded the app at the science fair and finds it more convenient to consult than the website.
Trustee Damion Ferraro said he was impressed with her skill and suggested that the school help her maintain the app, which needs updating on a regular basis, particularly on the sports calendar and menu links.
