kt logoA 19-year-old Kingston man was struck by a CSX freight train Friday evening while walking on the tracks, Town of Ulster police said, adding that they believe he was using earbuds at the time of the accident.

According to police, the incident occurred at about 6:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13. The man had just gotten off work, police said, and was walking south “in the gauge of the tracks” in the CSX yard off Ulster Avenue by the Spiegel Brothers Paper Co.

Police have not yet identified the victim, but remind people that “the railroad tracks are not a mode for pedestrian travel.”
