An evening with Slam Allen, New York State Blues Hall of Fame member, will celebrate the 90th birthday of the legendary BB King on September 17 at the Unison Arts Center. “Big” Joe Fitz of WDST (100.1 FM) will facilitate the interviews and introductions. “When I was eleven years old and saw and heard BB King, I knew right then that I wanted to grow up doing what BB was doing,” Allen said. “I am looking forward to performing at the Unison Arts Center to celebrate BB King’s birthday and help keep his legacy and contributions to American music alive!’’
Allen grew up in a family of musicians, as his father and uncles performed as the Allen Brothers Band. The younger Allen now has been entertaining crowds around the world with his soul and blues music for over 20 years.
