People from Kingston and the surrounding areas are invited this Saturday, Aug. 15 from noon to 3 p.m. to join the Caring Hands Soup Kitchen, the Sunday school of the Clinton Avenue United Methodist Church and Kingston Midtown Rising at the inaugural “Midtown Loves Kids” community bazaar and fundraiser at the corner of Liberty Street and Clinton Avenue. The event, organizers say, celebrates the children of Midtown Kingston with family-friendly games, activity tables, dunk tank and a cookout. Enjoy the free Farmer’s Market table with produce from the Hudson Valley Farm Hub, make jewelry and run through an extra-large bubble maker.
Food sales, a yard sale table and a bake sale will serve as fundraisers for kids’ programming at the Sunday school.
The Caring Hands Soup Kitchen serves daily hot, nutritious weekday meals at noon to all, regardless of need; hosts a food pantry from 11:30-12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and hosts many educational and wellness programs including a GED program on Tuesday-Thursday afternoons from 12:30-3:30 p.m.; Narcotics Anonymous meetings at 7 p.m. every day except Tuesday and Wednesday; and a free legal clinic on Fridays at 12:30 p.m.
