The New York State Department of Health released its list of five approved medical marijuana growing operations today. A site on Kings Highway next to the Army Reserve Center was not among them.
Selected were: (Applicant / county)
- Bloomfield Industries Inc. (Queens)
- Columbia Care NY LLC (Monroe)
- Empire State Health Solutions (Fulton)
- Etain, LLC (Warren)
- PharmaCann LLC (Orange, one Ulster dispensary)
Forty-three applications were submitted by the June 5 deadline to apply for one of the five registered organization registrations.
Each licensee can operate up to five dispensaries but marijuana cannot be sold in the form that is smoked. It must be in a pill form that is ingested or in an oil form that is converted into a vapor and inhaled.
Purchase will only be available for those diagnosed with specific diseases including cancer, HIV/AIDS, Lou Gehrig’s disease (ALS), Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, damage to the nervous tissue of the spinal cord, epilepsy, inflammatory bowel disease, neuropathies and Huntington’s disease.
Saugerties town officials had said the operation could have supplied up to 100 jobs.
