July 25 is Summer Fun Day and a Farm-to-Table demonstration at the Saugerties Farmers Market. This day includes a number of kid-friendly events such as face-painting, giant-bubble making, and performances by the Ivy Pine Puppet Theater, and the Royals, a choir from the Boys and Girls Club. For artistic enjoyment, Fiber Flame will conduct creative projects for children, and local artist Willy Neumann will display his interactive art. For food enthusiasts, local food expert Diane Reeder will show how to create the perfect marinades and dressings for everything from meat to vegetables and pasta. Recipes will be provided for cilantro-lime vinaigrette and mint-grapefruit marinade. Local farmers will have fresh and local summer fruits and vegetables including kale, lettuce, string beans, peas, cucumbers, zucchini and other squash, beets, and kohlrabi. Also, Highland Venison Farm will sell ostrich eggs, ostrich meat, buffalo, wild boar (ribs and bacon), quail and rabbit. Shoving Leopard Farm will have cut flowers for in-home display or to make flowers crowns. Maynard Farm has a variety of fruits including sweet corn, peaches, blueberries, apricots, cherries and plums. For dog owners, Licks N’ Love will be there with its variety of homemade dog treats. Heather Ridge Farm will provide several prepared, lunch items with lamb, beef, pork and poultry from its pasture-raised animals. Cooperstown Cheese will be there with its cow milk cheeses that pair well with Cooper Lake’s sweet-and-savory brittles. The market is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays through Oct. 31, 115 Main St., across from Cahill Elementary School.
