The Saugerties High School Class of 2015 valedictorian is Danielle Frederickson, salutatorian is Audrey Trossen and Principal’s Award recipient is Phoebe DeFino.
Frederickson will begin her studies in chemistry at Siena College in the fall. She aspires to be involved in research, pharmacy, or an education-related field in the future.
She is a member of the National Honor Society, High School Band, parish choir, and the Ulster Vicariate Choir.
Her achievements include NYS Regents Scholarship and getting her Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. She has also sung at the Vatican.
She has volunteered her time with the Parish Confirmation Retreat Team, SPCA, fashion show, and peer tutoring.
Danielle’s biggest accomplishment is, “being the Valedictorian of the Class of 2015.”
Salutatorian Audrey Trossen will be attending Smith College in the fall. She is currently undecided as to her major, but she is interested in astronomy and geosciences.
She is a member of the National Honor Society (secretary), High School Band, and Saugerties High School Gay-Straight Alliance (president).
Her academic achievements include NYS Regents Scholar, winner of the 2015 Saugerties High School Science Fair, NYS Senate Leadership Award, and 2014 Empire Girl’s State participant.
She has volunteered her time at the Wayfinder Experience Summer Camp (staff in training), and at the Saugerties Animal Shelter.
Audrey’s biggest accomplishment is “co-founding the Saugerties High School Science Club.”
Principal’s Award recipient Phoebe DeFino will be majoring in Childhood Education with a Bilingual Extension at The College at Brockport (SUNY). She aspires to be an elementary educator of a bilingual classroom (Spanish and English).
She is a member of the National Honor Society (president), Key Club (president), Class President, Art Club (president), Spirit Newspaper (columnist), and Varsity Volleyball Team (Captain).
Her achievements include Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizens Essay winner, AP Scholar Award winner, and playing the role of Lucy in the high school play “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown.”
She has volunteered 200-plus hours of Key Club Community Service, and as the Saint John the Evangelist Parish Music Coordinator (guitar and vocals).
Phoebe’s biggest accomplishment is “using her gifts and talents to help others.”
