Saugerties Book Fair Saturday, June 6

The annual Saugerties Library Book Fair on Saturday, June 6 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Kiwanis Ice Arena will offer hundreds of books, tapes and DVDs priced at 50 cents for softcover and $1 for hardcover. Vern Benjamin will emcee the programs, which will feature Rodney Batista’s Triumph Martial Arts demonstration at 9 a.m., BeeBee the Clown’s comedy, magic and puppet show at 10 a.m., Harvey Boyer’s jazz group at 11 a.m., story hour with Wendy Weinrich of the Mountaintop School at noon, Katie Hoffstetter and her acoustic guitar and Kevin McClaren and his band at 1 p.m. The Lifespring Crafters will sell their ware along with other venders. There will be children’s activities, face painting, animal balloons, bicycle safety and helmet tips from the Saugerties Police Dept. and Diaz Ambulance, Jill Schintone and friend from the Ulster County SPCA, a photo booth, authors, book signing and raffle tables. A bagel breakfast or pizza lunch as well as homemade desserts will be available for purchase all day. Admission is $1 for adult. The Book Fair is the major fundraiser for the Friends of the Saugerties Public Library. Volunteers are welcomed. More info is available from president Elaine White at 246-2334.
