Saugerties police and the Centerville / Cedar Grove Fire Department rescued a woman stuck on a ledge at Platte Clove earlier this afternoon.
According to police, Marcia L. Johnson, 58, of Platte Clove Rd., had been walking her dog on a trail at the base of Platte Cove Mountain when her dog accidentally slipped 20 feet down an embankment into a small ravine. After Johnson climbed down into the ravine in an attempt to retrieve her canine, she became stuck on the ledge. Firefighter/rescuers from the Centerville Cedar/Grove Fire Department rappelled down to the ledge and rescued Johnson and her canine, neither of which were injured. DIAZ Ambulance personnel also assisted with the rescue.
