Parents of students in Grades K-6 in the Saugerties School District are invited to attend a math workshop on Tuesday, Feb. 24 starting at 6 p.m. at the Junior-Senior High School.
The workshop will offer an in-depth look into the way math is taught in elementary school with an emphasis on the following topics: Tape Diagrams, Ten Frames, Number Theory, Making Ten to Add & Subtract (Grades K-2), and Fraction Models (Grades 3-6). Participants will be divided into the following five grade level groups: Kindergarten; Grade 1; Grade 2; Grades 3 and 4; and Grades 5 and 6.
For the benefit of parents with children at different grade levels, each group’s session will meet twice, with the first session running from 6 to 7 p.m. and the second session running from 7:10 to 8:10 p.m.
Senior High School students will provide homework help and babysitting services.
The snow date for the workshop is Thursday, Feb. 26.
