In a first for Saugerties CYO, the St. John The Evangelist girls’ Catholic Youth Organization fourth and fifth grade girls basketball team, won the Ulster County CYO championship. As a result, the team moves on to the Archdiocesan playoff games. The team is coached by the father-daughter team of Jack Breen (assistant) and Heather Fanelli, head coach. The team was defeated in the initial playoffs at Pearl River High School on March 8 but look forward to the next season.
