Town Board sets schedules, appointments

role call SQThe Saugerties Town Board held its annual reorganization meeting Jan. 10, during which it made appointments for all the various town offices and other official designations. All motions were unanimously approved by the board. Here are the new appointments:

Designated Saugerties Times official newspaper, with the Daily Freeman and Saugerties Post Star as additional publications for town announcements.

Appointed M&T Bank, Key Bank and Bank of America official banks.

Appointed George Redder and John Greco town attorneys.

Appointed Gary Newkirk, an associate of Pattison, Koskey, Howe & Bucci, CPAs, town accountant.

Appointed Audrey Klinkenberg town historian.

Appointed Brinnier & Larios town engineers.

Appointed Alex Nahow information systems support consultant at a rate of $50 per hour.

Appointed Daniel Shuster consulting planner.

Appointed Town Clerk Lisa Stanley as registrar of vital statistics.

Agreed that weekly expense vouchers should be submitted for auditing to the town of Saugerties bookkeeper by the Friday prior to the scheduled Town Board meeting and that all claims or vouchers must be accompanied by purchase bills or receipts for purchased items and initialed or signed by department heads where applicable.

Agreed to have Town Board meetings start at 7 p.m., with pre-board meetings at 6:30 p.m., at the Frank D. Greco Senior Center. (Meetings had started at 8 p.m. for several years.)

Agreed to the following dates for Town Board meetings in 2014: Jan. 8 and 22, Feb. 5 and 19, March 5 and 19, April 2 and 16, May 7 and 21, June 18, July 16, Aug. 13, Sept. 3 and 17, Oct. 1 and 15, Nov. 5 and 19, and Dec. 17.

Approved the following dates for town offices to be closed in 2014: Jan. 1, New Year’s Day; Jan. 20, Martin Luther King Day; Feb. 12, Lincoln’s birthday; Feb. 17, Presidents’ Day; March 26, Good Friday; May 26, Memorial Day; July 4, Independence Day; Sept. 1, Labor Day; Oct. 13, Columbus Day; November 4, Election Day; Nov. 11, Veterans Day; Nov. 27 and 28, Thanksgiving and the day afterward; Dec.25, Christmas.

Approved authorizing the supervisor to designate the use of his signature stamp where deemed necessary, as specified in Town Law, Section 29(30).

Approved a charge of $20 for checks returned for insufficient funds.

Appointed Town Board members to serve as liaisons to town committees and organizations as follows:

Leanne Thornton: HUD, Cable Access (Lighthouse 23), Historian, Conservation Advisory Committee, Library, Comprehensive Planning Committee, Biodiversity Assessment Team, Historical Society and Senior Education Committee (Lifespring).

Fred Costello: Parks and buildings, and Police.

Greg Helsmoortel: Transfer Station, Dog Control, Economic Development Committee, Tourism and Property Assessment Advisory Committee.

Jim Bruno: Transfer Station, Building and Zoning Codes, Planning Board, Zoning Board of Appeals, Dog Control, Economic Development Committee, Tourism and Boys & Girls Club.

Bill Schirmer: Justice Court, Assessors, Water and Sewer, Diaz Ambulance, Ethics, Historic Preservation and Property Assessment Advisory Committee.

Appointed Gladys Hutton, Priscilla Orr, Kevin Pendergast, Joe Gavner, William Creen Jr., Rich Koegel, Mike Tiano and Joe Quirk to the Recreation Advisory Committee, with Dean Fabiano honorary member.

Appointed Brian Sawchuk, James Barbour, Josh Randall, Gerry Marzec, Mary Anne Wrolsen, Clifford Tienken, Steve Guerin and Mary O’Connell to the Conservation Advisory Committee.

Appointed Ray Mayone, Rocco and Sandra Pietrofessa, John Poll, Pat Lambert, William Ashmore and Doug Petit to the Water and Sewer Advisory Committee.

Appointed Barry Kerr, Sue Rosenberg, and Matthew Phillips to the Cable Access Committee.
