A number of local merchants are ready to chip in and help Mayor William Murphy turn the red bridge over the Esopus into the Christmas bridge bedecked in holiday lights and two large wreaths.
“We are looking at putting Christmas lights on the bridge,” Murphy told trustees at their Dec. 2 meeting.
“This year, I would like to see it low-key with white lights along the railings with possibly a wreath at the top of the bridge at each end,” Murphy said.
A couple of businesses, such as HITS, have said they will help out with the cost, which has yet to be determined. Murphy said he would like to see additional businesses come on board to help.
“I won’t use any taxpayer money to do this,” Murphy said.
Any merchant or resident that might like to help out can call Murphy, or village clerk Mary Frank at (845) 246-2321, ext.
