Mayone is honest and hardworking

I would like to take this opportunity to publically thank Raymond Mayone for the helping hand that he extended to my family and me on Aug. 4 and 5. On the evening of the fourth we experienced severe water damage to our basement. I immediately called Raymond, thinking that the drainage system for our house had somehow been compromised. Raymond immediately came to the house and a plan was made that he would return the following morning, find the problem and then fix the problem…this plan was made by Raymond without question or hesitation. The following day Raymond appeared bright and early as planned and found the problem– a crushed drainage pipe that had been damaged when the pier for our deck had been set in place. This pier was not installed by Raymond nor was the damage to the pipe caused by Raymond. Although Raymond was not obligated to fix the problem, he did, and for that I can’t thank him enough.

I have known Raymond Mayone since I moved into Bishop’s Gate on Dec. 21, 1997. I consider Raymond to be a kind, honest, hardworking man who I also consider to be my friend. To my fellow Independence Party Members please show your support and vote for Raymond for highway superintendent on Primary Day, Sept. 10.

Elect Ray Mayone

This letter is in support of Raymond Mayone for the town of Saugerties highway superintendent. Ray is currently the president and owner of Mayone Construction Incorporated and has been doing business in and around the town of Saugerties for over 35 years. His expertise, experience and professionalism have been trademarks of his successful business and will be the foundation of this role of highway superintendent. In addition to being devoted to his family, his respect and admiration for his town are unparalleled.

This is a great year for the town of Saugerties to have such a qualified candidate for highway superintendent. Ray Mayone will bring a wealth of knowledge and genuine concern for the residents of our great town to the forefront in fulfilling the responsibilities for his office. Ray Mayone is a lifelong resident of Saugerties and a proven leader, just what we need for Saugerties. Ray Mayone for Saugerties highway superintendent!

Joseph J. Fabiano Sr.

Mayone will make a difference

I am writing on behalf of Mr. Ray Mayone, candidate for Highway Superintendent.

I know Mr. Mayone personally and professionally. Mr. Mayone is a lifelong resident of Saugerties. He and his lovely wife Carol Ann have raised two outstanding boys and have many roots in this community. He spent many hours volunteering his time with his horses during community events and for the Glasco Fire House. Mr. Mayone has also invested a lot of his career in designing and excavating Bishops Gate. This in turn has brought a lot of families to Saugerties. I can attest that his work is impeccable because he excavated and also helped build my home.

Mr. Mayone has a wealth of experience and insurmountable skills that will allow him to be a very successful Highway Superintendent. Personally, Mr. Mayone is a man of his word and conducts himself with the utmost integrity. I know that Mr. Mayone is running for highway superintendent because of his sincere desire to make a difference in our community.

I am registered with the Independence Party and will cast my vote for Ray Mayone on Primary Day, this Sept. 10 in addition to Election Day in November. It is without hesitation that I recommend you vote for Mr. Ray Mayone for highway superintendent.

Ms. Pamela Riggins-Stabile

Schirmer has Independence principles

I will be seeking support from Independence Party voters on primary day, Sept. 10. Unfortunately, my name will not be printed on the ballot and must be written in when casting your vote.

I embrace many principles of the Independence Party platform, including:

Term limits–I believe turnover in government is important to limit complacency and assure a continuing stream of fresh ideas. In keeping with this belief, I have vowed to limit myself to two terms as a town councilman.

Restoration of fiscal solvency–We must work diligently to return sanity to our budgetary process. Deficit spending must be eliminated to rebuild our fund balance for the future well-being of our town.

Reduction of mandates–Local officials must work together to lobby lawmakers in Albany to end many of the unfunded and underfunded mandates that place undue burdens on local governments.

Welfare reform–We must work across all levels of government to completely reform the welfare system and tame the out-of-control bureaucracy that consumes much of the funding available for social welfare programs before it ever reaches those in need.

My professional experience as a small business owner makes me uniquely qualified to understand the necessity of fostering private sector growth to create living-wage jobs and broaden our local tax base. We must look for solutions to provide better, more diversified employment opportunities for our young residents. When elected I will work hard to implement an aggressive economic development strategy aimed at attracting a variety of high quality employers to our town.

It time for a new voice on our Town Board. As a lifelong Saugerties resident I am deeply committed to serving the needs of our community while preserving the character of our town for future generations. I ask all members of the Independence Party to come out and support me on Sept. 10. Please remember that you must write in my name as “William M. Schirmer” on the ballot. If you require further clarification on this process please feel free to contact me at Schirmer.Saugerties@gmail.com.

Bruno thanks Conservatives

I just wanted to say thank you to George Heidcamp, the Executive Board of the Conservative Party and all of the Conservative Party members who supported me at the Conservative Caucus on Wednesday, Aug. 28. I was truly humbled by your show of support and vow to continue serving all of the people of Saugerties to the best of my ability.

Again, thank you and I’ll look forward to your support on Tuesday, Nov. 5!

Pick Wawro at primary

I am writing to ask the Members of the Independence Party to vote for my daughter, Mary Wawro, at the primary on Tuesday, Sept. 10. Mary has been a great advocate for her constituents and her efforts have been recognized by Len Bernardo, chairman of the Ulster County Independence Party. In his endorsement letter, Len wrote, “Mary did an excellent job representing her constituents during her first term. Mary worked hard with the other legislators to protect our environment, create new jobs in Ulster County, maintain balance in government, and pursue ways in which to keep our children safe. Thus, we believe that Mary is the best candidate for the Independence Party endorsement.” Please keep this mind when you go to the polls on Tuesday and vote for Mary.

Thank you for your support of my daughter.

A better world

I’ve known Lanny Walter since we were in seventh grade, and we have remained close friends for over 50 years. He is a wonderful human being with a very strong sense of justice. As an attorney, he has devoted himself to the disadvantaged, often sacrificing his own financial well-being. Lanny was president of our class in high school and, because of his extraordinary talents, voted “most likely to succeed.” I personally have achieved some degree of financial wealth (having been an investment banker) and recognition (having been NYC commissioner for economic development). But in my book, Lanny has easily surpassed me in success on what is most important: his commitment to make this a better world for all of us. He would make a wonderful judge, and I hope that the voters of Saugerties will give him the opportunity to employ his very special abilities on their behalf.

Garlic Festival parking

This letter is to clarify the recent press release about Premium Parking at the upcoming Hudson Valley Garlic Festival. This press release was generated by the Town of Saugerties Recreation Department and not The Kiwanis Club of Saugerties.

The Kiwanis Club of Saugerties would like to share the following information.

Parking for the Hudson Valley Garlic Festival is unchanged. Parking is included in the admission price to the festival and shuttle service from the parking lots is provided. The handicap parking area will continue to be in the same location as years past.

The Club as part of our expenses to host the festival reimburses the town and local police agencies for their support during the festival.

Premium parking fees collected by the Town of Saugerties will be deposited in the Recreation Trust Fund.

The Kiwanis Club of Saugerties would like to thank the Town of Saugerties residents for their support over the last 20 years of the Hudson Valley Garlic Festival.

Beth Bechtold
President, Kiwanis Club of Saugerties
