Woodstock guitarist and vocalist Perry Beekman will perform a program of songs by Rodgers & Hart at the Maverick Concert Hall this Saturday, August 3 at 6:30 p.m. accompanied by Peter Tomlinson at the piano and Lou Pappas on bass. Tickets are $25 to $40 for adults, $5 for students with ID. Beekman’s credits include the Palm Court at the Plaza Hotel and the JVC and River to River Jazz Festivals in New York City. Tomlinson teaches jazz piano at Western Connecticut State University and Vassar College. Pappas has performed at jazz festivals across the U.S.
The program of music by composer Richard Rodgers and lyricist Lorenz Hart will highlight the songs of one of the top songwriting teams of the first half of the 20th century, who at their peak produced as many as four Broadway shows a year. Their partnership spawned numerous hits, including “Pal Joey” and “On Your Toes.” Many of their songs are now part of the standard repertoire in the Great American Songbook. The Maverick Concert Hall is located at 120 Maverick Road in Woodstock. For information, call 679-8217 or visit www.maverickconcerts.org.
