Harvard bound

ball SQSaugerties High School student Maureen Ball has been accepted to Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Maureen is the daughter of Donica and William Ball of Saugerties. Ball has excelled in the classroom and with her varied interests in clubs and sports. She has participated in basketball, volleyball and softball and has served as team captain in some of these sports. She is a member and/or officer of Key Club, Student Council, Spanish Club and Ski Club. Her efforts in community service and tutoring junior high students are examples of her commitment to helping others. In her spare time, she loves to read, write short stories and poetry and make her own clothes. Ball is the recipient of the Saugerties Republican Committee scholarship, and is interested in studying foreign languages and the culture affiliated with each language. She hopes to work in the field of International Relations.
