Support Myers
On Wednesday June 19 at 7 pm the Republicans will hold their Caucus. I respectfully ask all Republicans to come out and cast their vote in support of Kelly Myers. I have worked with Kelly on many issues considering the village and town of Saugerties. She is a thinker who works hard to achieve the best possible outcome for the people of Saugerties. I have watched her work with the Town Board and compromise on many issues. She has taken on the DEP so that we can protect are natural resources the Esopus creek. Again I ask that all Republicans to support Kelly so we have a strong candidate in November.

Maintain town character, provide opportunity for future
My name is Bill Schirmer and I’m seeking the endorsement for the position of town councilman at the Republican caucus on Wednesday, June 19 at 7 p.m. at the Senior Center.
As a political newcomer, it is my desire to bring a strong voice and a much needed measure of unity to the Town Board. My professional experience makes me uniquely qualified to understand the economic burdens placed on businesses and individuals in these challenging times. I believe we need to focus our attention on improving government efficiency and fostering an environment conducive to private-sector growth for the betterment of our town as a whole. When elected, I will seek open dialogue and compromise with our elected officials while staunchly adhering to the principles of fiscal responsibility, budgetary restraint, tax abatement, responsible development and support for private enterprise.
I am a lifelong Saugerties resident. My wife Terry and I currently reside on Hommelville Rd. in the hamlet of Cedar Grove. I have three children, a daughter and two sons, all presently enrolled in the Saugerties school district. I’m a director and past president of the Saugerties Fish & Game Club, where I also chair the committee responsible for organization of the annual Saugerties Youth Fishing Tournament. Additionally, I am a member of the Saugerties Lions Club, the Northeastern Woodworkers Association, the Catskill 3500 Club and I’ve served several years as an AYSO youth soccer coach. I’m an avid outdoorsman and enjoy many activities including cycling, kayaking, hiking, gardening, and recreational and competitive shooting. Being raised in Saugerties I have a deep appreciation for the character of our town and a strong commitment to preserving that character, while cultivating a solvent and stable economy for our future generations.
I would ask all of my fellow Republicans to attend the caucus on June 19 and lend me your support.

Two more years
I am writing on behalf of Mrs. Kelly Myers, Saugerties town supervisor. As a resident and taxpayer of Saugerties, I would like to thank and commend Mrs. Myers for all of her efforts and accomplishments during her first term as town supervisor. She has modernized government in Saugerties. She stands up for what she believes and is passionate in doing what is in the best interests of all the residents of Saugerties. Mrs. Myers always acts with integrity and high moral standards. She has spent hours working to provide us with a high standard of living. Mrs. Kelly Myers has been an exceptional leader. Please attend the upcoming Republican caucus on June 19 and support her in a second term as Town Supervisor.

Mayone for highway superintendent
My wife and I met Raymond Mayone over 10 years ago when we purchased our home in the Bishops Gate subdivision in Saugerties. Drawing upon my 31 years of managerial service experience at Pan American World Airways, and 21 years of directorship at Montefiore Medical Center, I can clearly attest to the professional work skills and integrity of Ray Mayone.
Over the years we have become good friends and have witnessed first-hand the quality workmanship Ray has built into our community. Ray’s dedication to the community has always been obvious ranging from horse carriage rides at Christmas time to the wagon rides in the town of Saugerties. Sending his two boys through college has highlighted his family commitment and obligations. If there is time to be donated and contributions to be made to a cause, you can count on finding Ray and his family in on the events.
As town highway supervisor, Ray will perform no differently, and I support his nomination and election this year.

Change starts at home
I would like to make a formal announcement of my desire to run for a position on the Saugerties Town Board. I would like to tell you a little about myself. I have a wife, three children and one grandchild. The five of us call Saugerties our home. I have lived in Saugerties for about ten years and I’ve called the Hudson Valley my home for about 30 years. I am also a US Navy Veteran. While in the Navy I served as a Corpsman and received several awards, specifically I received a Navy Achievement Medal for saving the government over $250,000 in expenditures. I understand the importance of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. For many years I was an extreme sports athlete and played the sport of paintball all over the US and internationally from Mexico to Prague. I have an extensive background in marketing and advertising and have worked on projects both at the local and national levels. Some of the companies and organizations include but not limited to Disney, USMA West Point, Volkswagen of America, Hunter Mountain just to name a few.
In the community I have worked with the US Marine Reserve Toys for Tots foundation at both the regional and National Level. Having a very active eight-year-old, I have assisted with many of the groups she has affiliations with, including AYSO soccer, skating and various school and community functions in Saugerties. I am running for office because the US is a country where I swore an oath of allegiance and swore an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States like other military veterans and neighbors. Even though I no longer wear the uniform the values and the meaning of what it means to be a member of the armed forces, has always been a guiding light in everything I have done. I feel my life experiences at the local, national, international levels would be an excellent addition to the Saugerties government. Recently I have seen many things I dislike at all levels of government and I feel changes have to start with the home first and Saugerties is my home. Thank you.

Saugerties Republicans trample the First Amendment
The Saugerties Republican Committee invited registered Republicans to a Meet the Candidates Night June 6 at the Greco Senior Center. This was advertised on Lighthouse TV 23 and in the local papers. A video of the meeting was scheduled to be shown on TV23 on June 11.
When the volunteer arrived to record the event she was denied access to the room and prohibited from filming the meeting. This event was publicly advertised, held in a public venue, with no prior stipulations preventing the recording of the event. The video producer had every right to record the meeting. The strong-armed action of the Republican Committee was disgraceful.
Voters are constantly calling for transparency in government and openness by their elected officials. Political parties can’t determine which amendments to the Constitution they will passionately defend and which ones they will disregard. The Saugerties Republican Committee through its actions shut out their rank and file voters and completely trampled on the First Amendment, that guarantees our precious right to freedom of speech and freedom of the press.
The Saugerties Democratic Committee invites you to our Meet The Candidates Day on July 27 at Cantine Memorial Field. Of course the press and TV23 are welcome to record this event…we have nothing to hide.
