The land being cleared off of Route 32 North in Tillson will soon be home to a nursery/greenhouse — Kalleco Nursery — owned and operated by Mark Masseo of Masseo Landscaping. According to Masseo, he received site-plan approval and a special-use permit to construct two buildings on approximately 3.5 acres of the 26-acre parcel.

“My vision is for this to be a one-stop shop for homeowners, as well as contractors and landscapers,” said Masseo, who added that he’d been looking for the right piece of property for years when he came upon this lot in Tillson.

Masseo plans to open this spring, but the long-range plan is to have the full operation up and running in a year. “We’ll have the nursery/greenhouse ready for this spring, but I also want to have a specialty store for stormwater management for both homeowners wanting to create a rain-garden or contractors who need major stormwater management solutions,” he said.

After he finishes preparing the site, Masseo is slated to build a 2,400-square-foot storefront garden center. Ultimately, his plans call for a second 6,400-square-foot multi-use building.
