Doug Myer announced his candidacy for highway superintendent last week, citing infrastructure improvements using state and federal funds, new equipment and a new record-keeping system as accomplishments.

He was endorsed in 2011 by the Republican, Conservative and Independence parties.

The 40-year construction veteran and SHS graduate lives with wife Sue in a family home that dates to the early 1700s. They have two daughters, Heather and Lisa, and four grandchildren.

“It is with great honor that I serve the wonderful residents of the Town of Saugerties,” Myer wrote in a release. “Honesty, experience and integrity accompanied me upon taking this important position. I apply it each day and will never lose sight of who I am.”
