Utopia hosts Forbidden Feast for Performing Arts of Woodstock

oysters @Talk about raising eyebrows and forcing one’s hand not only to mark the calendar with a pen, but also to reach for the billfold: “A provocative evening of music, comedy, poetry and aphrodisiacs” is how the tagline runs for this Saturday’s January 26 benefit evening for Performing Arts of Woodstock (PAW), titled “Winter Fest 2013: The Forbidden Feast.” Many of the troupe’s old-timers, along with some very talented and charismatic newer players, will be on hand to perform and present bits of everyone from Harold Pinter to Stevie Wonder, from Leonard Cohen to Pablo Neruda and e. e. cummings (with even the ever-great Prince in the mix).

Alongside the entertainment will be a light buffet, inspiring beverages and what promises to be a great cross-section of this creative town’s most creative sets. Proceeds go toward covering costs for PAW’s 49th season this year. It all goes down at the atmospheric and quietly historic Utopia Soundstage in Bearsville, out by the Theater, restaurants and WDST studios.

Forbidden Feast benefit for Performing Arts of Woodstock, 7 p.m., Saturday, January 26, $35/$30 seniors, Utopia Soundstage, 293 Tinker Street (Route 212), Woodstock; (845) 679-7900, www.performingartsofwoodstock.org or on Facebook.
