Check out Uncle Rock’s website to stay current with his latest releases, and I also recommend the fundraising album on which he collaborated: Neighbor to Neighbor: Family Music for Sandy Relief, available at https://neighbortoneighbor.bandcamp.com.

Check out Catskill Country Store for locally made treats
Happy Anniversary, Kids’ Almanac! This week marks one year of publication! According to my friend Bonny at www.crazycelebrations.blogspot.com, this week includes National Escape Day on January 30. I hope that you find nice escapes for your family here in Kids’ Almanac. As Bonny says, “Do what you have to do to get some time and space to yourself today to decompress a little.”
I love doing this weekly column, and have learned a lot along the way. For example, I seem to require excellent snacks while writing each week. I’m actually sitting here right now with Deep River Snacks’ Sharp White Cheddar Cheese Popcorn, the best cheese popcorn that I’ve ever had, accompanied by a bottle of New Leaf Black Cherry Lemonade. Where did I get these epic treats? At the Catskill Country Store.
I happened to be passing through Catskill the other day, and Googled gluten-free for something to munch on the way home. Not only did the Catskill Country Store pop up, but I also happened to catch its sale on all gluten-free goods, running through the end of January. Let’s just say that I ate very well on my drive back down the Thruway.
The Catskill Country Store is a quaint little shop focused on selling local products, with a few other items in the mix. Stop by at 430 Main Street the next time that you’re in Catskill. For more information, call (518) 943-5199 or visit www.catskillcountrystore.com.
Since paper is the traditional gift for the first anniversary, Erica Chase-Salerno encourages everyone to subscribe, renew or give an Ulster Publishing newspaper subscription to a friend in honor of Kids’ Almanac’s first year! Erica thanks her husband Mike and their two children for their ongoing encouragement and support for KA. She can be reached at kidsalmanac@ulsterpublishing.com.
