The fall 2012 Learn To Run Program starts September 8 on the Hudson Valley rail-trail in Highland. Pictured are graduates of the Fall 2011 Class. Join their smiling ranks if you are willing to take that first step of giving the lessons a try. These will get you in great aerobic shape and make a difference in your life.
Now entering its thirteenth season, the program has graduated 110 individuals most of whom had never run before. In just ten weeks registrants will be able to run non-stop for 20 minutes.
The first lesson is a series of one-minute runs with two-minute walking breaks. The running portion increases slightly each week, still with walking breaks. This gradual process builds stamina to take on each week’s added workload. Only qualification is can you walk briskly for 20 minutes.
Cost is a $15 membership in the Hudson Valley Rail Trail Association. The class meets on Saturdays at 9 a.m. at the Highland caboose at 101 New Paltz Road, Call Ralph Diaz at 255-7742.
