Phillies Bridge Farm Project will hold its “Meal in the Field” this Saturday, July 28 at 5:30 p.m. The event’s 125 guests will enjoy a four-course meal featuring locally-sourced fresh ingredients prepared by local chefs, served amidst the growing fields of Phillies Bridge Farm, with a sweeping view of the Shawangunk Ridge in the distance.

First held in 2011, this year’s meal will be prepared by Mark Suszczynski (Harvest Real Food Catering), Diane Reeder (Root Cellar at the Queens Galley), Michael Bernardo (Café Mio), Justine Leger (Bridge Creek Catering), Agnes Devereux (The Village TeaRoom Restaurant and Bake Shop) and Lagusta Yearwood (Lagusta’s Luscious). The ingredients will be supplied by over 20 local farms and food establishments. The dishes will highlight what is fresh and happening right at that moment.

“The ambiance of the Meal in the Field is that of a relaxed gathering with friends, enjoying the finest harvests of the season,” said chair Jessica Clark, president of the board of directors of Phillies Bridge Farm Project.

This year’s dinner will expand on her vision, with many of the farmers who are supplying ingredients invited to tell the story, along with the chefs, of their ingredients’ journey from field to kitchen to table. According to Phillies Bridge Executive Director Donna Eis, “The purpose of our Meal in the Field is to connect local food enthusiasts to the sources of their food on an even deeper level. Diners leave the meal filled with awe, overflowing with appreciation for the bounty of the land and the hard work of the farmers.”

Guests may reserve tickets online at www.philliesbridge.org. Volunteers are needed for help with event set up, plating and busing. E-mail info@philliesbridge.org or call 256-9108 to volunteer.
