Marc Cohn is an excellent American songwriter with a bevy of near- and should-have-been-classics to his name, who is unfortunately narrowly defined by one mega-hit, “Walking in Memphis” – though that’s exactly the kind of misfortune that most of us would kill for. Cohn is also a natural raconteur, and the stories accrued in his years of being a one-and-a-half-hit wonder flow easily through his relaxed showmanship. And his band – which for the better part of a decade has featured New Paltz-born bassist Jon Ossman – kicks ass.
WDST Radio Woodstock presents Marc Cohn and his band at the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock on Saturday, July 28. The jazz-inflected singer/songwriter, actress and wife of David Mamet, Rebecca Pidgeon, opens. The doors open at 8 p.m. and the show begins at 9.
