On Saturday, July 14 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Elting Memorial Library will hold its 56th annual Library Fair. Each year, the fair attracts hundreds of visitors who come to shop for books and bargains, participate in the silent auction and raffle and, in general, enjoy talking with their neighbors.
Whatever your reading interest, you are sure to find it by browsing under the book tent, where you will find more than 25,000 books — fiction, non-fiction and children’s.
The raffle features great prizes including an overnight at Moondance Ridge Bed & Breakfast, fine dining and much more. The grand prize is a two-night stay at Mohonk Mountain House.
The silent auction offers such treasures as fine art and antique cut glass to swing dance classes and B&B lodging.
And who doesn’t like a flea market? The library’s flea market is huge and filled with bargains. In addition, there will be children’s activities — including a story time reading corner, face painting, crafts and games — live entertainment, traditional fair food, plants, toys and jewelry.
If you want to have first choice of books, there is an early-bird fee of $10. This gives you entrance to the book tent from 8 until 9 a.m. Admission is free after 9 a.m.
The fair will be held at the corner of North Front and Church streets in New Paltz. The book sale, only, will continue on Sunday, July 15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. For additional information, call 255-5030.
