Dion Ogust, whom our readers know via her consistently spectacular photo work in our pages, is an artist of many talents and styles. Concurrent with her years of assignment work for Ulster Publishing and a range of international publications and stock agencies, she has also pursued more personal artistic Grails, including painting (she was a student of the late Nick Buhalis), solar-plate prints, intaglio printmaking and hand-colored photographs. This Saturday and Sunday, June 30 and July 1, the artist is opening up her elegant studio space in Woodstock for a special weekend of in-house sales of her less-known pieces, and just a way of saying hello to her visitors with glasses of wine or lemonade for those who stop by.
“I have pursued painting and printmaking as way to balance out the hours spent with the computers and pixels of my photography work,” she says, as explanation of this “other” body of work. “There’s nothing like getting dirty with real ink and paint and challenging myself to create with the hands what my eyes see.”
Her studio is located at 33 Schoonmaker Lane in Woodstock, just off Route 212 west of the Woodstock village center (and just past the post office).
