Elting Memorial Library and its teen advisory committee will offer a free Mardi Gras party for the entire community on Saturday, Feb. 11 at 5:30 p.m. (snow date Sunday, Feb. 12). Arrive in costume — there will be prizes. The event will feature tastings of authentic New Orleans gumbo, jambalaya, moon pies, hurricane drinks, real king cake (find the baby in your cake and be crowned) and more. Additional festivities will include a bead throw, a candy toss, New Orleans music and some material to make-your-own masks. The classic movie “Abbot and Costello Go To Mars” will be shown.
