Luppino will be an asset

For the first time in a long time I am excited about a local election. Virginia Luppino is running for Ulster County Legislature for District 2. I have worked with Virginia on local issues and her love for our community, her core values and tireless work ethic will be an asset to all of us. Virginia Luppino is taking on the challenge of running for County Legislature. She is running for all the right reasons. She is running for us. I urge all voters in Barclay Heights, Malden and Saugerties Village to vote for Virginia Luppino. Virginia deserves our support. For more information about Virginia go to www.VoteLuppino.com.

Sennett for DA

Election season is here, so let’s say it clearly: Jon Sennett is the right man for the office of Ulster County District Attorney. And after you say it once, say it again and again, and then many times over.

Mr. Sennett has the requisite prosecutorial experience. He worked as a Bronx County Assistant District Attorney, both as a litigator and an administrator. In other words, he has managed cases in real time—in the courtroom—and indirectly as manager of a team of prosecutors. He is dedicated to fighting crime on all levels, from crimes against seniors to crimes against our youth, from white-collar to blue-collar.

He will bring integrity to the office of the Ulster DA. He will defend working men and women against the misuse of taxpayer dollars. He will be vigilant against gang-related violence and other crimes.

I know Mr. Sennett as a fellow parent in the New Paltz public schools. I trust and respect him. I trust that you will mark your ballot for John Sennett this Election Day.

Harkavy inspires hope

There is not a lot of joy in reading the news nowadays. So it was with happiness and a renewed sense of hope that I learned that Mike Harkavy is running for the County Legislature. Yes! A sensible, intelligent, down-to-earth, thoroughly experienced, long-time citizen of Saugerties willing to take on the hard work of government! There may be no work harder today than working for the public good. He can do it. I will be proud to vote for Mike Harkavy for Ulster County Legislature.

Thanks for the votes

We would like to thank the members of the Independence Party for their support in the recent primary election. We are honored to have your continued vote of confidence whether at the polls or by sending in your absentee ballot.
