The people are watching the Common Council to see if they heed Andi Turco-Levin’s letter to the council for a complete investigation into this mess with retired policeman, city inspectors, fire department personal, all involved with no written contract between the city and the contractor and a work permit still in limbo and so many state and federal regulations and rules broken as lawsuits mount up against the city daily.
While close to $400,000 has already spent in cleanup costs and owed back taxes. Kinda seems excessive, considering the building is still standing and no one so far has had a single bid in for the property. It must make it the most expensive parking lot in Kingston if not the whole United States.
I understand now our mayor is having a retirement party at a local haunt celebrating his 33 years of public service. I suggest instead of giving him a gold watch they get him a copper one so he will be reminded of this albatross he is leaving for us taxpayers to clean up for him after he leaves office, not to mention the lives that may be cut short due to his dismal mismanagement skills as the ex-CEO of Kingston. I hope he enjoys his retirement!
