Experience and passion needed
Saugerties and all of Ulster County must elect legislators who have the experience and passion to make the necessary decisions that will bring about tax relief and job growth in our community.
Mary Geick-Wawro is the person who has that experience and passion. Mary has lived her whole life in Saugerties. Mary has 20 years experience operating a successful small business in Saugerties. Mary’s business success allowed her to raise and support five wonderful children. Mary’s business experience , which includes dealing with government regulation and taxation, makes her uniquely qualified and passionate when it comes to knowing what it will take to stimulate and entice business and job growth in our community.
Conservatives and Republicans, please vote Mary Geick-Wawro on primary day, Sept. 13, 2011. We need Mary to represent Saugerties, Legislative District 1.

Myer for highway superintendent
This November, Saugerties voters will be electing a new highway superintendent. I’m confident that when voters compare the qualifications of the candidates, they will elect Doug Myer.
Doug has been involved in heavy construction and infrastructure projects for over 40 years and has considerable knowledge operating within budgets on town, county and state levels. You can learn more about Doug and his qualifications visit his website: www.dmforhighway.com.
The experience of Doug’s Democratic opponent, Darren Chlud, pales in comparison. According to his Internet bio, Chlud said he “served as an operator in the Highway Department under long-time Highway Superintendent Al Ferraro (it’s actually Ferrara).” Sources tell me, however, that Chlud worked for the department for less than a month! I also learned that Chlud worked for the Rhinebeck Highway Department for two weeks before leaving. I hope Chlud will explain to voters why his tenure at these departments was so short.
Another issue Chlud must address with voters is his close relationship with Kevin Carpenter. Carpenter, a well-known person in Saugerties, joined with Chlud to bring a lawsuit to overturn the results of the Republican nominating caucus that chose Doug Myer as its candidate. Thankfully, the lawsuit was dismissed. Saugerties voters deserve to know if Chlud has promised Carpenter a deputy position or anything else if, by chance, if he’s elected.
When voters take a hard look at Chlud’s background and qualifications, I’m confident they will reach the same conclusion: Doug Myer is the best candidate to lead the Saugerties Highway Department into the future.
