On Saturday, April 9, 70 volunteers gathered from the across the Hudson Valley, New York City, and as far away as central New Jersey to lend muscle and cheer to Catskill Animal Sanctuary’s “Work Party,” an event held several times annually at the Saugerties horse and farm animal non-profit.
After one of the toughest winters on record, CAS was in need of a little TLC. It got that and more as seven crews of ten planted greenery in the chicken yards, resurfaced gravel entrances to horse fields, painted and repaired long stretches of fence, removed piles of debris, and cleared pastures.
“Volunteers have always been important to CAS, and we’re thrilled when good folks come out in droves,” said CAS founder and director Kathy Stevens. “The work never ends on a large farm, and given our limited budget, we depend on kind people to share their time to care for our animal friends…so this is fabulous!”
The sanctuary is located on Old Stage Road in Saugerties. For more info, go to https://casanctuary.org/.
