Two BMWs crash in Saugerties

Saugerties Police NY badge 290Saugerties police are investigating a Jan. 23 accident on Pine Ln. According to police, a 2010 BMW driven by Cody J. Valenti, 21, and a 2002 BMW being by Steven M. Costello, 21, both of Saugerties, were involved in a separate motor vehicle accidents at the same location on Pine Ln. around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.

How the accident occurred is under investigation. The following comes from the police report:

Costello’s car left the roadway and struck a tree. He was extricated from the vehicle and sustained severe but non-life threatening injuries, and was transported from the scene by helicopter to the Albany Medical Center, where he is listed in stable condition.

Valenti sustained minor injuries when his vehicle also left the roadway and struck a tree. He was subsequently charged with reckless driving.

Additional charges are pending against both drivers. Police are asking anyone who witnessed the accidents or has any info to call 246-9800.

The Centerville Fire Department and Diaz Ambulance also assisted at the scene.
