William S. Schachter

Lake Hill:  William S. Schachter, born in Vienna on January 31, 1934 and passed away on September 28, 2018.  His nearest relatives are his loving wife of 54 years, Lucille and devoted step-children, Christina Morgan and Chip Bonito (Maryann).

Bill had an illustrious career in public relations and politics, including running  for congress in the 19th District.  He worked for Bobby Kennedy, Arthur Levitt and the Kennedy Foundation.

Prior to opening his own consulting firm in NYC, Bill was senior vice-president of Rudder & Finn and world-wide vice- president of public relations for AVIS, Inc.

He introduced sports sponsorship, including the US Tennis Open and World Pro Skiing.  Additionally he was a published author of three books, an avid tennis  enthusiast and a top-notch skier.  He retired to Woodstock ten years ago.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the ASPCA or the  Woodstock Jewish Congregation.
