Susanne Marie Whitton, 90, a resident of Tampa, FL for the past 11 years, and formerly of Rome, GA and Highland, NY, died peacefully with the presence of family at home on March 26, 2022.
Born June 30, 1931 in Manhattan, she was the daughter of Edward and Anne (Hackett) Donaghue. She married James E. Whitton (deceased – married 61 years) in December 1949 and raised eight sons. She was an active parishioner at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church from 1955 to 1996.
Susanne is survived by sons: James and his wife, Deborah of Fishkill; Kevin and his wife, Kathleen of Missoula, MT; Gregory and his wife, Marie of Cartersville, GA; Stephen and his wife, Susan of St. Petersburg, FL; Brian and Lisa Tedori of Brick, NJ; Michael and his wife, Tina of Tampa, FL; Christopher and his wife, Anne of Hopewell Junction, NY and Neil and his wife, Cyndi of Fairfax, VA. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Tuesday, April 5 at Dwyer & Michael’s Funeral Home, Tarrytown, NY. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 6 at The Church of the Magdalene, Sleepy Hollow, NY followed by internment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
