Shirley B. Kelly

Shirley B. Kelly, age 94, of New Paltz, NY, died Thursday, November 29, 2018 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie. She was born June 8, 1924 int Poughkeepsie, NY, the daughter of the late George P. and Beatrice E. (Robinson) Knickerbocker. She was the wife of the late Robert A. Kelly, who predeceased her on March 29, 2005.

She is survived by two daughters: Jacqueline K. Klein and her husband, Vincent, of Gardiner, NY, and Wendy J. Kelly and Martin of Peekskill, NY, and one son: Robert Kelly and his wife, Kimberly, of Ridgewood, NJ; her grandchildren, Brett Klein and his wife, Alison, of Larchmont, NY, and Courtney Klein and her fiancé Herman of Westwood, NJ, David and his wife, Rachel of Lincoln Park, NJ, and Brian Kelly of Ridgewood, NJ. She had three great-grandchildren Carter, Isabelle and Ainsley of Larchmont, NY.

Mom and Dad had a wonderful life together while raising their three children in New Paltz. They loved their six years living in Paris, France, while Dad worked for IBM. After his retirement, they became snowbirds and enjoyed spending every winter in Stuart, Florida. Mom had a friendly outgoing personality with a great sense of humor. She was known as the “life of the party” by her friends. She appreciated every card and phone call from her family. She always ended the call with, “You really made my day.” The family will always treasure their loving memories of her.

Calling hours were held on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Copeland Funeral Home, Inc., 162 South Putt Corners Road, New Paltz, NY. The funeral was held on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at 11am at Copeland Funeral Home, Inc., 162 South Putt Corners Road, New Paltz, followed by burial at New Paltz Rural Cemetery.

Donations may be made to the New Paltz Rescue Squad or a charity of one’s choice.
