Robert A. Coddington, Sr.

Robert A. Coddington, Sr 75, of New Paltz, New York passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones, on Saturday October 2, 2021, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, New York.

Born September 23, 1946, in New Paltz at the home he grew up in, he was the son of the late Carl D. and Lulu Jenny (Williams) Coddington.

Bob worked for Virtis Company in Gardiner, New York for over 38 years, until his retirement in 2011.

Bob was a caring, generous, hard-working man. When he was young, he loved hunting, trapping, and fishing with his siblings. He had a passion for cars and loved racing at Accord Speedway. He was a great mechanic. He worked long hours in his shop on all kinds of equipment. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix. Bob enjoyed going to car shows with his best friend, Louie Parisio, “The Big Wazu”. He also loved taking many trips to Ole Forge, New York with his family. After Bob retired, he kept busy with his landscaping business. Bob was a loving father, grandfather, amazing brother, and a great friend. He will be greatly missed by all.

Survivors include his daughter, Rebecca L. Coddington of Ellenville, NY and his son, Robert A. Coddington, Jr. of New Paltz, NY; his brother, Carlson D. Coddington of New Paltz, NY, his sisters, Loretta Corwin and her husband, Daniel of Neptune, NJ, Lorraine Dubois of New Paltz, NY, Carol Ann Durante and her husband, Vinnie of Clintondale, NY; and his three grandchildren, Melaina M. DelPezzo of Wappingers Falls, NY, Robert A. Coddington III of New Paltz, and Alexia L. Coddington of New Paltz, NY; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and his beloved dogs, Riley and Legacy.

In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his sister, Joan L. Place, his brother Gene K. Coddington, and his brother-in-law, Allen Place.

They also suggest that in lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s name be made to either St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to New Paltz Rescue Squad, 74 N. Putt Corners Road, New Paltz, New York 12561.
