Kenneth Edward Morrison, of New Paltz, NY and Port Charlotte, FL, passed peacefully in Wheat Ridge, Colorado on Wednesday, January 31, 2018.
He was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, on June 25, 1933 to Edward G. and Elsa Emily Morrison. He graduated from New Paltz High School and served in the US Navy during the Korean War. Using the GI Bill, he graduated from Duchess County Community College and received his Degree in Civil Engineering. He married the love of his life, Margaret Mary McGill, on July 18, 1959, in Queens New York.
The couple settled in New Paltz and Kenneth worked for the State of New York Department of Transportation as a Civil Engineer. He was a Boy Scout Leader and a Little League Coach. He taught himself to ski and sail and passed that love on to his children and grandchildren. He worked hard in his profession, at home, and in his community. He was dedicated to his wife and children, and was a true friend and a mentor to many. He retired to Port Charlotte, Florida. With his sailboat in his back yard, he spent his time traveling and sailing with his wife, family and friends.
He is survived by his children, Peter (Jennifer), Daniel (Julie), Patricia (Robert) and Kathleen, Grandchildren Kevin, Erin, Robin and Ian Morrison; Conor and Carver Morrison, Elizabeth, Eugene, and Emily Loughlin, and Joseph and John Simpson; He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Margaret, his son-in-law, Vincent Loughlin, and sister Gladys Kiraplacht.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 Friday, July 13 at the Ulster Veteran’s Cemetery located in the New Paltz Rural Cemetery. He and Margaret will be laid to rest together and Kenneth will receive his Military Honors. Casual dress, please.
