Joseph Jaklitsch

Joseph Jaklitsch, 73, passed away on Saturday August 31st 2019, surrounded by his family, after a long and courageous battle with heart disease.

Joe was born in to a Displaced Persons Camp in Austria in 1946. He immigrated to New York City as a child with his grandmother in 1952. Joe joined the Air Force in 1964 and was stationed in Thailand during the Vietnam War. After the service, Joe attended The University of Buffalo, Hunter College and graduated the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park. After many years in New York City, Joe made his way up to Woodstock and knew immediately this was where he wanted to call home. Joe lived in Woodstock NY for many years where he met and marred Barbara, his wife of 40 years. Together they started a family, and designed and built a passive solar house in Shady.  Joe is survived by his wife Barbara, daughters Wallis and Stephanie, son-in-law, Kevin, and granddaughters Beatrice and Rosie.

A Celebration of Life – Pot Luck Brunch will be held on Sunday September 22nd 2019, from 12 to 4 pm, at the Green Barn at Stillwaters Farm, 114 Housatonic River Rd Falls Village, CT 06031. Donations in Joe’s name can be made to National Public Radio or The National Democratic Committee.
