Jon C. Forster

WOODSTOCK – Jon C. Forster, 79, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2017. Born January 19, 1938, in Hennepin County, Minnesota to the late Reginald Bishop Forster and Margaret Christy of Minnetonka. He was predeceased by his sisters, Deborah Forster and Ann Forster.

His greatest pride and joy, besides his family, was his residence of almost sixty years in Woodstock New York. When he wasn’t tending to his beloved property in Woodstock, he could be found in his kitchen, music on the stereo, pouring over accounts of World War Two and other infamous wars. He could pontificate for hours (and often did) on the intricate details of famous battles and strategies.

Jon’s company was sought out over the years by those who enjoyed sharing his unique world view and keen sense of humor. He prided himself in the rearing of his two children, Liza and Lauren, as free thinkers. Jon is loved and will be missed deeply by his family and friends who knew him well.

Jon also had a special fondness for bagpipes and the wilds of Canada. Although he claimed not to remember, he also possessed a beautiful singing voice and had a fondness for the ballads of Frank Sinatra.

He is missed and loved by his wife, Jeanne Forster, his two grown daughters, Liza Forster of Newbury Park, California and her children, Gilda, Sam and Wyeth Hall, and Lauren Motta of Briarcliff Manor New York, and her husband, Mike Motta, and son, Max Motta.
Jon will be remembered at a private family memorial service.
